The SPHRi (formerly the Human Resources Management Professional) are certification credential for HR leaders that validates senior-level HR competency and mastery of generally accepted HR principles in strategy, policy development, and service delivery regardless of geographic region.

Exam Format & Length?

Computer-based testing (Pearson Onvue) 105 scored questions (mostly multiple- choice) + 25 pretest questions

Two hours and 30 minutes.

HRCI offers year-round assessment opportunities. Testing options vary by geographic location and availability.

SPHRi certification is valid for three years after testing. To maintain a SPHRi credential, one must earn 60 recertification credits over three years.

Who Should Enroll?

Must meet one of the following conditions for education and/or experience

  • Have at least four years of experience in an HR position + a master’s degree or global equivalent,
  • Have at least five years of experience in an HR position + a bachelor’s degree or global equivalent, OR
  • Minimum of seven years of experience in an HR position.
  • The SPHRi requires documented knowledge of local labor laws.
